Ice Dragon by DragonosX Ice Dragon by DragonosX
I actually did this in 2006 and I just never got around to posting it until now. I kept thinking I'd get better photos of it, maybe photos in the snowy outdoors since she's an ice dragon and all, but as it turns out my level of interest in extended photo sessions out in the snow are pretty low nowadays.

This dragon is almost 3 feet long - yes most of that's the tail but it's still the longest sculpt I've done (Space Godzilla is heavier.) You can see a pop can next to it in one of the photos for scale.

To bulk this up I used all the scraps of sculpey and premo I had at the time, some of it was probably 10 years old but still soft enough to use. The armature is wire and foil, outermost layer is sculpey premo. All the scales are hand sculpted/carved.

That's really awesome, a very individual design. How did you paint her, airbrushing, acrylics? Amazing, I wonder where you find room to keep her. :P

5 or 6 months... I was unemployed for most of that time span though so I had plenty of time to work on it. :D

WOW thats a very long time. though the end result was really worth it. it came out great.

question. lets say if someone wanted you to make a sculpture for them how much would your awesome works of art run for? im not going to commission you or anything lol just want to know. besides i doubt you do commissions like that anyway. :)

Thanks- It was baked in sections- the head and neck were one, the torso and legs for the second and the tail was the third. After they were all baked I glued the sections with Gorilla Glue then I filled the gaps with more sculpey, then baked it with a hair dryer (They were thin gaps so it wasn't a massive amount of sculpey to cook that way.)

That's awesome, I love the face! The coloration around the eyes, that's really a nice touch.

Thanks! Yeah I wanted to draw attention to the eyes, they were clear yellow beads with black centers so they looked like cat eyes, but they looked much darker than I intended. The markings helped jazz it up some.
