Description
This is primarily watercolor and acrylic paint on dark brown toned paper. I did do some touchup in photoshop mainly because, once again, the paper buckled due to the moisture. I was trying a thicker type of paper than the Canson I usually work with, and I thought it might resist warping better. However it actually seemed to warp and bubble more.
So I texturized the background a bit.... works OK I think.
So if'n any o' youse guys try painting on colored paper like dis I'd advise mounting it to some sort of acid free mount board or matt board and save yourself the bubble trouble.
As to the illustration itself, this wolf is based off a photo of a timberwolf I took at the Columbus Zoo last year. Since it was in May the wolf seemed to be shedding her/his? winter coat quite a bit but I left the fluffy tufts of loose fur off the illustration. Normally the wolves are running in way back of the enclosure or hiding under stuff so you can't see them, but this time this wolf was right near the front of the exhibit.
