A Friend in Need

"This is the 4th time in the past millennium you have troubled me with your petty human squabbles," rumbled the old blue dragon. "What is it this time? Trolls? Harpies...... Gnomes, again perhaps?" With this she barely repressed a derisive laugh.

"My old friend, I come to you only because you are the only hope of containing our latest.....catastrophe......" Dhanar began, obviously not eager to break the news to the venerable Lazuli.

"Catastrophe?" she asked, arching a ridged brow. "Very well, mage....what may I rescue you and your delicate pink kind from this time? May it be small and easily squished."

"Not so, I'm afraid. Your sister Indigis broke her bond from the drachenstone high in the mountains...she has raged against the citadel walls. She could not breach them, but there is no telling what her fury and desperation for revenge are capable of. We beseech you to help us bond her once more to the stone!"

Her pupils turning to slits, Lazuli peered toward the mouth of her cave.

"We'd best start moving if we are to reach the citadel by nightfall."

Photoshop CS3, combination of illustration and photo textures. I usually meticulously put in each scale and detail but I decided to try using some reptile, stone and wood textures I've taken photos of over the years.
